EFCCMJ Strategy

The key strategic element in the EFCCMJ ministry is service through partnerships. The EFCCM exists in Japan in order to serve along side others in the birth and growth of healthy churches. Currently, the EFCCMJ partners with one mission agency and one national association of churches.

The EFCCM officially began its work in Japan in 2004. However, there has been an EFC of Canada presence in Japan for over thirty years. Starting in 1964 a few missionaries from the EFC of Canada served in Japan under the umbrella of the EFC of America International Mission (EFCA-IM). Due to this history, the EFCCMJ continues to work cooperatively with the EFCA-IM in Japan.

For example, one EFC of Canada Mission in Japan household is a church planting team member of an EFC of America International Mission in Japan church planting project.

As another example, the EFC of Canada Mission personnel in Japan, and in all of Asia, have been invited to participate in the EFC of America International Mission's all Asia triennial conference for its personnel in January 2007 in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Of equal importance, the EFCCMJ partners with the EFC of Japan, the association of of over 80 churches birthed through the ministry of the EFCA-IM. This partnership is highly valued and is given highest priority in our strategy. Most of the ministry of the EFCCMJ falls under this category of a partnership with some level of the EFCJ. For example, one EFCCMJ household teaches evangelistic English conversation classes in four EFCJs in the Central District of Japan (Nagoya). Another household is partnering with a local EFCJ to plant a church in the Tokyo area.

The fellowship which grows out of partnering with these organizations produces a relational context for the ministry of the EFCCMJ.
