Greater Sendai City: Sendai Izumi Church Plant

Gina Lo of the EFC of Canada Mission is helping Larry and Bella Mori of ReachGlobal (EFC of America) plant an Evangelical Free Church in the Izumi ward of Sendai city. Sendai is in northern Japan. Gina is from Calgary, Alberta, but her roots are in Hong Kong. Gina is the older sister of Bella.

This church planting project has been active for a number of years under the leadership of Larry and Bella of ReachGlobal. Using ReachGlobal Japan field funds, they have recently been able to purchase an excellent piece of property and a building. This is of great encouragement to the church planting team.

Gina's responsibilities at the Sendai Izumi church plant include helping in the office to prepare advertisements for events or making copies for meetings and classes; preparing meals for church gatherings and meals with seekers; providing child care during meetings; praying for each seeker and believer on a regular basis; helping to prepare the facility before meetings and cleaning up after meetings; and taking care of the Moris' children on the occasions when they both need to be out of the house due to ministry.

Gina arrived in Japan in Dec 2004. She lives with the Moris.

Sendai city is about 300 kilometers north of Tokyo.

Easter 2005 at the Sendai Izumi EFC church plant. The church meets in the Moris' house.

Gina shares a part of her story...

After giving my life to Jesus, I began to desire to serve God with my life; however, I wondered how I could serve Him since I didn’t have much education and had a shy personality. I began to pray to God that he would open a door so I could serve Him. I thank God for His answer to prayer, because a year later God led me to serve at the Evangelical Free Children’s Home (a Christian ministry to children who come from troubled families) in Hong Kong as a shopper. I was thankful that I could serve God while sharing God’s love with the children by serving them. I learned that God is willing to use anyone who is willing to give Him whatever abilities they have. I served in the Children’s Home for about four years until my family immigrated to Canada.

After I immigrated to Canada with my family, I started attending the EFC church in Calgary. I always prayed that God would again open a door for me to serve Him. One time, I had a chance to visit my younger sister, Bella, who serves in Japan as a missionary with her husband, Larry, and two children, Timothy and Tiffany. I saw that they were very busy in learning the language and doing the ministry and raising their children at the same time. I began to pray that I could help them in whatever way I could. Bella and Larry also prayed about it and felt they could use my help in the ministry. After praying and waiting, thank God that I was accepted by the EFC Canada Mission and was assigned to help Bella and Larry in Japan so they can concentrate on the church planting ministry in the town of Tomiya in northeast Japan.

Gina is currently lacking some financial support. If you would like to partner financially with her in her "missionary supporting" ministry, please .
